KanoRoad and Traffic Agecy (KAROTA) has arrested one Mr. Ekennah Okechuku for transporting more than 60 cartons of Indian Hemp into the state.

Bustandaily reprots that this was contained in a statement issued to Kano Focus by the Agency’s spokesperson Nabulisi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa on Wednesday.

He said the suspect was in the wanted list of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Command for same crime.

He said while handing over the suspect to the commandant of NDLEA, the Managing Director of KAROTA Baffa Babba Dan’agundi said the agency had recently ordered the relocation of the Sabon Gari luxurious buses park due to reports of such crimes committed using such vehicles.

‘’The order is beginning to yield intended results as some of the luxurious bus companies now cooperate with KAROTA to expose any person or group of persons transporting any prohibited goods or items into Kano using their services.

‘’He warned that any company whose driver or his boys is found guilty of conniving with unscrupulous individuals to commit a crime in the state, such vehicle, would be seized and the company expelled from the State.’’

Mr Kofar Na’isa said, the Commandant of NDLEA, Kano Command, Ibrahim Abdul expressed gratitude to KAROTA for the synergy between the two agencies which led to the arrest of the suspect.

He said the command had earlier intercepted two consignments belonging to the same person who developed the tactics of concealing exhibits in unsuspecting packs and move in a separate vehicle which made it difficult for operatives to arrest him.

The suspect who hails from Imo State has since confessed to his crime, revealing that he was transporting the drugs from Lagos to Kano where he supplies his customers
