The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board said it planned to an enlightenment programme for weekly induction course in 16 centres for 2023 prospective Muslim pilgrims.

The Executive Secretary of the board, Amb. Muhammad Abba-Danbatta, at a news conference in Kano on Thursday, said that the program would start in the middle of January.

According to him, “the sensitisation is to enlighten intending pilgrims who will be transported from Nigeria to Saudi Arabia on May 4”.

Abba-Danbatta said that the board had refunded money to about 90 per cent of the 100 per cent prospective pilgrims.

“The refund is the surplus from the N2.5 million paid by intending pilgrims in 2022 Hajj.

“Intending pilgrims who deposited money for the pilgrimage will be issued new receipt to open their file, start the process and will be the first set to be registered for 2023 Hajj, ” he said.

Abba-Danbatta said that the board would collect a deposit of N1.5 million for the 2023 Hajj before the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria would announce the full amount.

He added that the kingdom of Saudi Arabia had cancelled age limit and series of tests conducted during the exercise, noting that only COVID-19 certificate would be checked when going for the pilgrimage. (NAN)
